The RMIT Capitol Theatre closed since 2014 reopened in early June after a significant refurbishment under the guidance of Architects, Six Degrees. The reopening celebration featured  a lighting and sound show developed by students Osker Smith and Christopher Forewood under the guidance of lecturer Darrin Verhagen from the Digital Media course of the School of Design.

bluebottle were delighted to form an industry partnership with the Digital Media program, mentoring students in the development of their work with the Pharos lighting control system. The end result, a spectacular blaze of colour, sound and movement, was a celebration of the venue’s crystalline cave-inspired interior. Designed in the early 1920s by renowned architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin, the Capitol is one of the world’s earliest examples of the Art Deco style.
