bluebottle worked with Wills Projects on their new permanent public artwork, Rain, on the corner of William Street and Osmond Terrace in Norwood, SA.
Inspired by the Rain Moth and its fleeting 24-hour adult life, the artwork uses sculptural forms and lighting to create a changing night-time presence that connects the street to the natural world.
At the heart of the installation, we implemented Pharos controls, scheduling the lighting each night and integrating it with a rain sensor that triggers a change in colour when rain is detected. The result is an artwork that responds to the very weather event it takes its name from. We also supplied the LED lighting and backlighting, bringing the sculptural forms to life after dark.
